Crankin in Mt Beauty

Yup. Was National MTB round time again in Mt Beauty, always a good weekend with heaps of riders in town. Friday night after work I headed out to do a lap of the XC course. It always blows me away with how technical and tough these national round courses are, you kinda ride around, stop and go “WTF?? How do I do this bit!!!” I managed to ride about 90% of the circuit well, and needed a steep learning curve for the rest (ie riding over rocks while trying to go through a fork in a tree, or the biggest natural half pipe I had seen in a while called Luke’s Drop).

Luke's DropDuuuuhhh, breaka alpha foxtrot, Rodger, Over!!

Sat morning I had marshalling duties with Team Mount Beauty and as it turns out I was stationed at the top of “Luke’s Drop”, which involved keeping the riders safe and waving the yellow warning flag to other riders if anyone came a cropper. Thankfully no-one did. Massive respect to all racing, and Chris Jongewaard was flying as was local boy Paul Van Der Ploeg who came 3rd overall. Nothing like watching a race to get you motivated!!

Great Post Mate,
Is it called Luke's drop because someone named luke once dropped themselves there?

I seen Dan The Man finished 2nd too!

Thanks for the post!
