There were a lot of Gumbies out riding on Sunday in the Alpine Classic… this guy didn’t make it!
Funny how these big riding events bring all sorts out of the wood work. Most are cool and enjoying themselves, but there are always a few Gumbies who give everyone else a bad name. I’m starting to think they only hand out rear vision mirror to riders who can prove they have a bad attitude and a gutter mouth…..
Anyway, in other news my Australia Day Holiday was spent doing a MTB adventure ride on fire trails in the mountains. I started in Mt Beauty, rode through the east Kiewa River (which is very cool as you need a run up and just need to hope you don’t hit any massive underwater rocks cause its’ splash down if you do), and rode up the Kiewa East track up to Bogong Huts. Just past here is an old Tramway which was used to build the aqueduct, a really weird thing to come across in the middle of the bush!
This bit was a bit bumpy!!
I followed it all the way to the end where it finishes up above Clover Dam (about ½ way up the Falls Creek road). There were some sweet trout in the aqueduct so might have to throw in a line next time! I then followed the Falls road back to the single track above Beauty and hooted back into town for a nice 3hr jaunt. National round at Beauty this WE!!

Australia Day 26th of Jan, I worked. What BS!
But I had Monday off in lieu of it, which made me feel better, unfortunately all the Australia Day Racing at Blackburn and all the BBQ's I'd been invited to were not on Monday! F#ckers!
