Thursday 23/11/2006 - 4000m Individual Pursuit. I did a 4.54.66 (5 second P.B.) on a 95.4 using a front shamal and rear disc (using Gunsle's 53 chainring, thanks dude!). Gear felt good. The Malaysian caught me with about 4 laps to go just as I was about to start driving it home and I had to sit back a bit and not draft him (and I don't think you are allowed to re-overtake). He got in my way a bit when he finished (he didn't swing straight up the track so I had to back off a bit to avoid hitting him). I was riding to a 4.52 schedule and got close and I'm happy with my ride. Note: The Malaysian did a 4.45 which was the fastest ride ever by a Malaysian (he had the National record for about 10 minutes until his mate did a 4.43). I did the 1st 1km in 1.15.63, 2nd km in 1.14.28, 3rd km in 1.13.12, 4th km in 1.11.63. (9th overall).Sunday 26/11/2006 - 15km Scratch Race. 60 lap race won by Greg Henderson (2004 World Scratch Race Champion). I stayed with the leaders for 26 laps (34 to go). Other riders were dropped after 10 or 15 laps. The race averaged over 50km/h. I rode a 95.4 which was fine (but the pace wasn't fine). 16 starters, 8 finishers. I went home for 3 hours.
5pm session - 1km Time Trial. After being held up on the Springvale Rd "Car Park" I got to
the track at 4:55pm (too late to warm up on the track). I changed into skinsuit, pumped up singles, set up rollers, then looked at start time. My name had been left off the Kilo start list (due to start in less than 30 mins). I found some officials who said they would look into it then I jumped on the rollers on my 95.4. Less than 5 minutes later an official came and told me that I'd accidentally been left of the list and that unfortunately I'd have to ride off first (2 on the track at a time). I said "no worries" and thought I could continue my warm up. She then said "You're on next and you need to have your bike and helmet checked before you race". I got checked then got in the starting gate. Did a P.B. of 1.10.951 (old P.B. 1.11.1) which I'm happy enough with but I know I can go faster if I train for it or have a warm up . (9th overall).30km Points Race (120 laps with a sprint every 10 laps). This race was fast. 1st rider dropped before the first sprint then another rider dropped during the first sprint then another rider dropped soon after. The only riders left on the track were Australian National Team (3), New Zealand National Team (3), Malaysian National Team (4), and me (Le Tour Cycles blue skinsuit). I got a 3rd place (2 points) in the 4th sprint and stayed with the leaders for 50 laps (70 laps to go). Only 11 of us were left in the race. I then dropped a lap and jumped back in the bunch for another 10 laps or so (half the race) then I pulled out (I was rooted). I was happy enough with my effort and the 93.6 gear but reckon I would have done much better with 170mm cranks (instead of 175). 9 finished.

Question from Ant: Are you going to do the 2006 Oceania's?
Answer: No dude, they were held in New Zealand in December 2005. These were the 2007 Oceania's.
Wow man that sounds pretty full on! Still, good to see what a high class race is like. Well done on the points race! Did RE race?
Nope

2007 is in 5 weeks or so

AP
Due to the busy cycling calendar early in the year and the fact that the Oceania's need to be held before the World's (which are in March), the UCI ran the 2007 Oceania's in November 2006.
Would this post have been better sent as an email to the CoT or is it a suitable post?
Post. Definitely post. Race info/experiences always posts.
NOTE: Photos attached to this post are from the 2004 Oceania's which were held at Vodafone arena.
Main differences: skinsuit worn for 2007 Oceanias was LeTour Cycles instead of Aussie, bike was Inexa instead of Kennedy, shoes were Carbon Pro instead of just Pro, front shamal instead of front disc, DISC instead of Vodafone.
What year did you do the 2004 Oceania's?
GOAL!!!!
how big is it
LMFHO
2004 Oceania's were 20th-22nd Feb 2004 in NZ. I made a mistake - the photos attached to this post are from the 2005 Oceania's which were held in December 2004 in Melbourne. (I did 2004 and 2005 Oceania's in 2004). Understand now Ant?
NEVER!!
So were there 2 oceania's in 2004?
And you competed in both of them?
Sounds like Gunsle understands. Maybe Gunsle could explain it to Ant (slowly and maybe using small words, or using leet speak or some other language that Ant can understand). Good luck!
or he could sit behind me and complain about cramps, fatigue and the pace.
i understand that perfectly.
im trying to resist calling you a penis.
f*ck it, i cant hold it in any longer
penis
i still kind of love u monster
Why only kind of? What did I do wrong? You know I was sick leading up to D'oh erty tour and not in good form, the last thing I needed was to smash myself into even more pieces in that road stage when all we needed to do was finish it.

You didn't even need to do that.....Bumbag

I wouldn't have felt good about starting stage 3 if I didn't finish stage 2. I wanted to finish what I started.
