Timmy's D'oh Crash.

AhhhhhhhGGGGGGGGG! That was what I meant to say when I came to after my crash!
Well if you haven't heard by now I came a cropper in Friday nights C-grade Crit.
I was racing quite well during the race, but there were a lot of younger "green" riders who probably hadn't had a lot of experience at open racing or any kind of racing. Halfway through the race I heard someone fall behind me on the bend where I went down, the familiar sound of pedal scraping, then bike/body sliding. I was second wheel when this one happened, and the guy in front keep looking around "rubber necking". I was yelling "He's gone mate, he's gone, don't worry", to make him keep riding and try and get away. And he did keep riding for a bit, but we didn't get away. After 40 mins of racing, we had 3 to go and the field was all together. At bell lap I had worked my way up to between 6th and 8th, was still moving forwards and we were flying. We entered the slightly downhill off camber back corner at around 50 k's. All I could do was stretch out on the bike with the knee a bit out for stability and hold on through the corner. Then as we exited the bend it happened. Some young buck who had only ridden 3 crits before was right on the front and decided to pedal while turning at that speed. He crunched his pedal, and decked it. He flew off onto the nature strip, but his bike slid right infront of the fast moving bunch. The guy on my left dodged it, but I hit the bike square in the middle, about where the cranks are. I thought happy thoughts, and held my breath and tried to jump the bike but all I remember was seeing my handle bars disappearing under me, and Timmy was in launch mode.
All I remember after that was..... well it took me ages to piece everything together. I could hear this person hypervelating (which was me) but it didn't feel like me and the first person I recognized was Ben Horton who had me propped up. I then saw Monster looking at me as though someone had died, and I don't remember a lot of other stuff besides the ambos putting a collar on me, and getting moved onto a stretcher. But thankyou to every one who helped out on the scene getting my stuff home and the phone calls after. At least I was not too bad in the end!! I ended up with a Frankenstein Head, really sore back/guts, and skin off shoulder arm but thats was you get when you do a one and a half somersault and use your head/face as a break at 50kph... Time to rest now (I got a week off) and see if I can ride Bright.
