I recently sent this to an online outdoor shop that jerked me around...

To whom it may concern.

I am writing to express my disappointment with the international order procedure at Gear West. A few months ago I set out to purchase some Craft thermal wear, which you had in stock. I went though the process of purchasing the Craft items via your online shop, which went smoothly until I got to the shipping section (or in layman's terms "postage"), and found I was confronted with a cost of $120 US. This was about double the cost of the two items of clothing I wished to purchase. I then sent an enquiry to ask you at Gear West whether this was in fact the correct shipping cost to Australia (or for international online orders). Jason at Gear West then responded bluntly that this was indeed the shipping cost and offered no alternative. This left me with several options which I will outline to you below:

1. Proceed with the order, rendering myself broke so that I will have to clothe myself in a Hessian sack, lie in a gutter and drink from a bottle wrapped in a brown paper bag.

2. Cover myself with postage stamps, mail myself to the US, purchase the goods in person, and stamp myself with "return to sender" in order to get free return travel. I considered the problems faced with a non-pressurized cargo hold, but found if I purchased a -50 degree F down sleeping bag along with a couple of oxygen tanks with a mask, I should still be able to keep my costs below $120 US.

3. Look elsewhere online for a better store with better postage rates.

After I carefully considered my options, I was very pleased to find another competitors store selling the same Craft items with a shipping rate of around $20 US. I proceeded with the order and received the goods within 10 working days.
May I suggest that you seriously review your online international order shipping rates, as after all aren't you better off with a larger customer base? Or if you don't give a hoot about a worldwide market, may I suggest that you remove international online orders from your web site as I don't think anyone is dumb enough to pay $120 US for shipping.
