After a 40 minute 3 man break-away (with Murray S. and some really fit rowing guy), Steve Martin sprinted to his second A grade win at Casey Fields this month. Murray attacked several times in the closing laps which managed to drop the fit rowing dude. Murray then played the tactical game of sitting behind Steve Martin and attacking him after he completed his turns. Steve Martin was ready for this but got sick of it in the final lap and decided to slam on the brakes to force Murray to the front. As Steve hit the anchors, Murray attempted one final "give it all" attack to get away from the "rat in a cage" and sat on around 55km/h down the back straight with Steve only about a bike length back, ready to break free from his cage as they got to the end of the straight. Steve went frigin BANG!! with about 250 metres to go and had plenty of time for a victory salute as he crossed the line to take his second Casey Fields victory (from 3 starts). Murray commented after the race that he was surprised that Steve had that much power left in reserve (after chasing down his final futile attack) to unleash such a sprint.

Good Job Lad.
3rd place was the winner of philip island b-grade (on a day licence)...wowsers.
He appeared to have a massive sprint on him at philip island, good u got rid of him when u did mr monster :)
TKA
So Ant are you saying Monster only beat a climbing Mtb'er with no sprint, and a club level B grade rider??? I actually waiting for the Monster road open win...
t(e) - you can only beat who turns up.
t9e0. We should mention that 3rd place 'Some Really Fit Rowing Dude' was also racing on a Day Licence @ Phillip Island. So he is basically a newb, a n00b or a newbie! Stevie beat a n00b!! Well done! n00bs shouldn't be a challenge.
But it is a very relevant point that 'You can only beat who's there'
Too True!
When is he gunna win an OPEN though?
