On Friday Morning we woke early with an air of excitement.
7:30am we rang the hospital to get the final ok for the induction.
After receiving the green light, we headed on in, arriving around 8am.
Co-incidentally the Mrs Pregnancy Doctor happened to be just passing thru, and took the opportunity to 'break her waters'. A sterile device similar to a knitting needle was used.
This gave me the time to catch up with my book 'Soldier Five' by Mike Coburn. After several runs up and down the stairs to try and speed things along, it was decided we needed 'the drugs' to bring the contractions along. This happened @ 11:15am.
It didn't take long for the contractions to start up, almost immediately it was averaging 4 within 10mins @ approx 40sec duration.
We all put money on what time it would all happen.
My money was on 2:10pm. The others 3-4pm.Well in the end, I shit it in, Dakota Kiah was born @ 2:03.30pm.
7lb 13oz (3.545kg) 50cm long.

Needless to say, T-Man was just a lil wrapped (as was Dakota)

Cool!! Lol at bean bag book reading pose. T- man looks like he is ready for the whole father thing!
Cool man. What's that all over Dakota in the first pic? It looks like she got too close to the pottery wheel while it was spinning out of control in the ceramics room. I didn't notice it when I held her on Saturday so I assume it just washed off. Why doesn't she have a cone head? She looks good man! Why the induction? Please answer all 3 questions new Dad.
The stuff Dakota is covered in is known as 'Vernix', also known as Vernix caseosa, is the "waxy" or "cheesy" white substance found coating the skin of newborn humans. It is secreted by the fetus's sebaceous glands in utero, and is hypothesized to have antibacterial properties.
Vernix is composed of sebum (the oil of the skin) and cells that have sloughed off the fetus' skin.
Did Joel not have this? Or were u just not present @ the birth? Perhaps he was bathed before he came out?
Why would she have a cone head? An upside down cone would be handy for collecting money, perhaps you should get one...?
She was inducted because of the risk of her coming too quickly and what had happened with Jai. Where Jai & Kylie were put under undue stress from the home birth.
Joel did not have this.
I was present.
He must have been bathed before he came out.
I don't need a cone head.
Suck.
Hey Gunsle, congratulations on the birth of yet another quality offspring.
Sincerley,
Monster.
lol sorry lad,
it's the CoT Blog so I sorta have to pay out on you a bit, otherwise it just wouldn't be cricket would it?
Can we nickname her "trail?"
After "Kokoda trail"
A trail very tough and well trodden. Many hardships experienced along the way, but once the goal of completing it is achieved, one can sit back and admire his handywork. Gunsle got his prize.
* I am a dick.
Good point Ben(ji), I don't know what the Fuck T(e) is on about.
timmy believes that there is some 'dakota' trail/track or something...he's gotten so country on us that his brain is malfunctioning, his thoughts extend only to hay bails and rain gauges.
